House Sellers Drop Asking Price

According to new statistic released by the website rightmove, homeowners dropped their asking price by an average of £3,797 which equates to 1.6% in the past month.

However the number of unsold homes on the market hit a record high this year as 70% of homes have failed to sell.

“Many equity-poor aspiring sellers will be trapped in their current homes, either unable to come to market or stuck on the market and unable to reduce to a price that will attract buyer interest,” explained Miles Shipside of Rightmove.

Unemployment Falls 26k Last Quarter

Unemployment for the UK fell by 26,000 in the past three months to reach 2.45 million people.

However the number of people claiming job seekers allowance increased by 24,500 in June compared to May but the discrepancy is being blamed on a change to how benefits are calculated.

Trustee of Debt Support Trust, Stuart Carmichael said,People gaining employment of any kind is essential to help to avoid debt problems. People can find their debt problems spiral out of control when they lose their job. Often a manageable debt situation becomes uncontrollable because of interest and charges being accrued when the minimum contractual payments are not met.

Inflation Falls 0.3% in June

Inflation Falls 0.3% in June

According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation fell 0.3% in June from 4.5% the previous month to 4.2% in June.

Experts had expected inflation to remain the same however clothing dropped 1.9% compared to May while toys and games also fell.

The retreat in consumer price inflation in June boosts the case for the Bank of England to hold fire on interest rates for many more months to come to give the fragile, faltering economy every chance to develop growth momentum,” said Howard Archer, economist at IHS Global Insight.
