UK Unemployment Increases

New statistics released today show an increase of 0.1% in the overall number of people unemployed for the UK to reach 38,000 for the quarter.

The new figures were released by the Office for National Statistics who also found the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance increased 37,000.

A spokesman for Debt Support Trust said, “The unemployment level has risen slightly but the overall picture for the UK is still extremely bleak as 2.49 million people continue to be unemployed. There is unlikely to be a large increase in the number of jobs in the near future as businesses still struggle to rebuild after the financial collapse.”
