Scottish and Southern have followed Scottish Power and British Gas by announcing their intention to increasing energy prices.

SSE said their average electricity bill will increase 11% and gas by 18% from the 14th of September.

Charity Trustee Stuart Carmichael said, “Gas and electricity prices are only going in one direction – up! The suppliers of gas and electricity, such as Scottish and Southern Energy, purchase in bulk a number of years in advance and prices are increasing as a result of supply and demand”.

He continued “However, you should shop around for your fuel supplier. As a new customer you can get excellent deals to save you money and perhaps even fix your prices for two years.”
