Retail Sales Drop
According to the British Retail Consortium (BRC), Ratail sales in May dropped 2.1% when compared to the same time a year ago.
Both March and April saw a rise in retail sales however this is understood to be due to a late Easter and extra bank holidays.
“These are poor figures. What we’ve seen here is food has been reasonably resilient but non-food has had a dreadful May,” said Stephen Robertson, the BRC’s director general.
