Rent across England and Wales reached a record high in April according to a new survey which has shown an increase of around £30 more per month compared to a year ago.

The increase is believed to be caused by the rise in demand. The survey also found an increase of 11.8% in rent arrears within the past year.

LSL estate agency managing director David Newnes said, “The final bank holiday of the month delayed many rental payments, but on top of this, thousands of tenants took advantage of the opportunity and booked holidays, which has impacted on the timely payment of rent”.
