New statistics released by the Office for National Statistics have shown an increase in the number of people unemployed in the UK however they also found that weekly working hours had decreased.
The new figures show that weekly working hours dropped 0.4% to 31.2 hrs in the three months to June compared to the previous quarter.
While unemployment has increased there is a decrease in the number of hours available to people in employment.
A spokespersons for Debt Support Trust said, "It's an employers market with employees being asked to become more flexible. The saving employers make may help their business survive, however, people will be taking home less in their pay packet. This will be placing them under increased financial pressure which has the potential to result in long term problems and an increased level of debt solutions such as IVAs and Bankruptcy."
