Fuel Poverty Rise To 5.5 Million

Fuel Poverty Rise To 5.5 Million

According to new figures released by Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC),household fuel poverty rose 1 million in 2009 to reach 5.5 million.

The DECC also predict that the figures for 2010 - 2011 will show another rise because of the increase in the fuel prices.

"Between 2004 and 2009, energy prices increased: domestic electricity prices increased by over 75%, while gas prices increased by over 122% over the same period," DECC said.
