Mortgage Rescue Below Target
A new scheme which was introduced to help homeowners in England from losing their property has missed its target.
The Mortage Rescue Scheme meant that not for profit housing associations were able to buy a percentage in a home and rent it to the homeowners.
"The scheme has helped fewer than half the number of households expected and each rescue has cost more than three times as much as expected, with overall costs sitting at £240m," said Margaret Hodge, who chairs the Public Accounts Committee.
